In 2003, research and development in the Business Area focused on the improvement of acid regeneration plants for spray roasting and fluidized bed systems for carbon steel, as well as mixed acid recovery for stainless steel. Another
project was targeted at improving strip cleaning technology. Andritz’s 20-high rolling mills and push pull pickling lines have been continuously improved and are
now offered as standardized products. Further improvements have been achieved in cost reduction and standardization of the furnace technology.
